During the Ethiopian war had command of the southern front and defeated the Abyssinians at the Battle of Ogaden and Neghelli; created marshal of Italy (1936), Marquis of Neghelli and viceroy of Ethiopia (June 1936 - November 1937), returned to Italy in January 1938 after an attack in which he was seriously wounded. World War II broke out, had in June 1940 the Government of Libya and the command of the troops in North Africa, after making a bet on offensive Sidi el-Barrani (September 1940), countered by the British had to withdraw to El-Agheila, and was therefore replaced by General Gariboldi (February 1941). He retired to private life to the end, after September 8, 1943 joined the Social Republic, and was Minister of Defence and Chief of Staff of the government of Salò. Give yourselves to the Allies (1 May 1945), condemned by an Italian court to nineteen years in prison as guilty of collaborating (1948), was released in 1950, and he served in the Italian Social Movement (of which he was honorary president) and emerged, however, in 1954 . He died in Rome in 1955.

Dino Grandi





Italian politician, born in Morden in 1895, was one of the founders of fascism and militant actions carried out in Emilia squads against men and branches of the socialist movement. He was Undersecretary of the Interior and Foreign Affairs (1924-1929), then foreign minister (1929-1932), ambassador to London until 1939 and then Minister of Justice. Member of the moderate regime in 1943 orchestrated the fall of Mussolini, whose position was weakened by military setbacks of the Italian army. It was great to present to the Grand Council of Fascism (in session between 24 and 25 July), the order of the day asking the king to fully resume his duties as head of the army, in fact discouraged Mussolini: The document, approved majority, Vittorio Emanuele III offered political support to resign and stop Duce. Department was able to escape the death sentence imposed on those responsible for the fall of Fascism by the tribunal in Verona in the Republic of Salò in 1944. He died in Bologna 1988.
